Richard Matheson was a american author and screenwriter. He was well known for writing "I Am Legend" and the short story "Duel". He also wrote numerous episodes of "The Twilight Zone" for Rod Serling.

Richard was born on February, 20, 1926 in Allendale, New Jersey. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York.

Personal Life[]

He was married to Ruth Ann Woodson and had four children. Three of his kids- Chris Matheson, Ali Marie Matheson and Richard Christian Matheson are all writers who have written fiction and screenplays.

Death[]

Richard on June, 23, 2013 at his home in Calabasas (a city in Los Angeles), California.

  • Short Story of "Steel" was the first inspiration for the screenplay to the 2011 Film "Real Steel" which Hugh Jackman starred in.
  • Had Claimed that the film that came closest to capturing the spirit of his novel " I Am Legend" was the 1968 film "Night of the Living Dead" even though the film was not an intentional adaption of his book.
