The Greener Light Harpoon Rifle was a weapon used by Quint in Jaws to hunt sharks.
Using the rifle, he would first shoot the shark somewhere on the body, causing damage to the shark, and in doing so attach a large, yellow, plastic barrel to the shark.
Once attached, he would wait until the shark is near the surface and unable to dive, then jab at the shark with a large stabbing pole until it died.
The rifle is a modified Martini-Henry rifle which was used by the United Kingdom in the late 1800s. The name is similar to the shotgun variant of the Martini-Henry which was called the "Greener Prison Shotgun", "Greener" being a firearm company based in England.
