What was the deal with Vengeance?

I could never understand in the beginning why it seemed as though the shark was harassing the Brody family. Can anyone share their assumptions about why it seemed like this shark had a vendetta or personal motive to attack whenever anyone from the Brody family was in the water?

The Discovery Channel commenced it's 25th year of the ever popular Shark Week last night, and Universal is releasing the original Jaws on Blu-Ray tomorrow, so there is no better time than today to compile a top ten list of the greatest shark attacks in cinema history.
